Korean Zombie versus Yair Rodriguez: UFC Fight Night 139 will live on this "November 10"
The UFC will celebrate its 25th anniversary with an excellent fight card live from Denver, CO, the same place the promotion kicked off its first-ever card 25 years prior. The Beginning was the first mixed martial arts event by the UFC which took place on Nov. 12, 1993. UFC Denver will take place on Nov. 10, just two days shy of the official anniversary.
Due to injury, Frankie Edgar has been forced to withdraw from his November 10 bout against Chan Sung Jung. Stepping in for Edgar against "The Korean Zombie" in the five-round featherweight main event at Pepsi Center in Denver will be Mexico's Yair Rodriguez.
Back in action for the first time since a May 2017 loss to Edgar, the No. 15-ranked Rodriguez is one of the UFC's top rising stars, having won six of his seven Octagon bouts, inclusing stoppages of BJ Penn and Andre Fili. Next month, he will be put to the test once more against the No. 10-ranked Jung, an all-action fighter who has finished the likes of Dustin Poirier and Dennis Bermudez in his UFC run.
As for Jung, 31, he’ll try to win his second fight in a row since returning from his mandatory military service in South Korea. The former UFC featherweight title challenger stills look to be the same fighter he was back in 2012, which is really exciting from a spectator’s standpoint. Another flashy knockout finish for “Korean Zombie” this November could score the veteran his second UFC title shot.
